#PartizanReference #Pzn14 Around 1:03:30 Austin describes the theatre district of the Nidean city of Orzen as having a “Neon Classical” aesthetic, which, I’m furious.
Neon-Classical is the super gaudy misunderstanding of the Twilight Mirage era aesthetic that approaches vapourware.
In particular, Austin references the Grand Theatre in Warsaw, a building with multiple tiers and columns and a neoclassical aesthetic, but with a laser light show instead of this refined lighting. The equestrian sculpture is replaced with a giant Firebird glowing in the night sky
There are holographic banners fake blowing in the non existent wind. It’s chaos dressed up as high class chaos.
If someone could please photoshop some vapourware onto this dignified building, I’d be very grateful.
It’s worth bearing in mind that in the real world, neoclassicism could be a bit of a farce; mimicking what people wanted to have seen. In reality Roman sculptures were painted like carnival murals, but that didn’t match the dignified aesthetics that the upper classes wanted to…
…invoke as their intellectual and cultural heritage. In some cases they literally cleaned the paint off.

Neon-Classical aesthetics sound almost like photoshopping the paint back on, turning a vibrant sculpture into a technicolor carnival float because “it needs to be louder”.
