[1] That’s a wrap for the week. Feeling satisfied with our work at @ONPsych over the last 2 weeks. The team is working almost around the clock. Preventing the disruptions of psychological services to 400k Ontarians this year is no simple task. Many people to thank! #COVID19
[2] First, we need to thank our psychologists & the patients they serve. We’ve ask so much of you all in the past few weeks. You have worries and we hear you loud & clear. We too want everyone to get they support they need. I’m impressed by the rapid adoption of Virtual care.
[3] We went from having 25% of psychologists offering virtual care in 2018 to 70% at the end of last week. We predict 90% adoption within the next two weeks. That’s unprecedented. Thank you to our partner @TRChealth for supporting us through this. This is good for psychotherapy.
[4] We have also paid close attention to the need to virtualize neuropsychological, psychoeducational, & forensic assessments tools. We had the privilege of having productive conversations with @PearsonAssessCA & @MHSclinical. Feeling hopeful innovative solutions are coming.
[5] I’m also encouraged by minister @MichaelTibollo announcement of emergency MH funds. While more must be done, we understand that the priority is preventing the spread of #COVID19. I’m hopeful Premier @fordnation will invest more into MHA to address the tsunami that is coming.
[6] I’m also amazed by the 300 psychologists who have decided to volunteer to provide no cost psychological services to persons directly impacted by #COVID19. Our Disaster Response Network has already supported the @redcrosscanada & next week we will announce our next steps.
[7] We have also heard from Ontarians that MHA service navigation & resource matching is absent. Our system is siloed, fractured & there is a complete absence of primary care, hospital & community psychologists integration. @StrataHealth is well positioned to help change that.
[8] On a final note, I wanted to acknowledge our front line teams & those directly impacted by the pandemic. We are here for you. Help is coming. I’m very much looking to continue working on solutions next week!
