Just like @KurtLeavins I'm going to share some sports cards with you.
I'll start with this interesting one. The back is interesting because it lists Lithuania as part of the Soviet Union. Lithuanians used basketball to quietly assert their underground independence for years. Watch, "The Other Dream Team". You'll like it.
Kids, now you know why we have a salary cap for rookies. $2.45M/season at a time when Mario and Wayne were making $3M/season and Lindros was the highest at $3.35M/season.
This one goes out to @jigs35 I know it's not Leafs Palmateer, but he had the best masks. Weird in those days that goalies could be 5'9" and survive. Funny how goalies are 6'10" today and get beat up high.
Long before he became a saviour (in more ways than one) for the Oilers, Ron Low was a Redwing after a trade from Washington. At the printing of this card he was the Caps leader in GP, minutes played, and wins with back 2 back 5.45GAA seasons.
Bought a box of cards from the 1995 World Championships held in Sweden. Bought it because it had a ton on international stars including #99 at the 82 Worlds.
@Lowetide Before he was the Spaceman, William Frances Lee, was known for his poise on the mound and an effective screwball
The Boogie man. RIP Derek.
Of course, I couldn't put this thread up without putting up another Fort boy. Spinner really bucked the odds as there wasn't even a proper road into Fort St. James at the time. Tragic end, but you can never deny his time in the show.
How good was #99? 65 points more than his nearest competitor. Obvious airbrush on the lid. Sorry for the shadows.
I think my scanner needs adjusting or was this indicative of MIke Modano everytime he killed the Oilers? What do you think @AlleyDalley ?
