Iâm not in favour of influenza restrictions being enforced by police with massively expanded powers, and I think many of the toughest restrictions are theatre to stop people being scared and angry about far more serious threats, but we do need to maintain social distancing.
If weâd invested in more test kits and targeted isolation of people who actually tested positive, rather than putting faith in a racialised quarantine, we would not have had to shut down so many things for so long and many people would not have lost their jobs.
