🚨Faculty: Check in on your masters students who are finishing in May & currently job searching. With hiring freezes, & related uncertainties, they need your support now more than ever (& may be lost in the shuffle of attention put on undergrads).
I woke up wondering about the ways campus partners & faculty can partner here—extend GA positions until later in the summer; provide paid teaching/TA; & work with the VPSA directly (how many programs are in close-touch with the VPSA right now?)
I also think it is useful to take note of student statuses right now:
—who has job secured, & is that still happening
—who is geographically-bound & searching in a high risk area (e.g., NY)
—who has flexibility and security in current GA/RA position (who does not?!)
Faculty & programs should email GA providers regarding:
—if offers made this past 2 months for 20-21 are still happening/upheld
—if dept cuts are impacting returning &/or graduating GAs (which ones, & at what time)
—if work opps exist for current GAs needing new placement
