Update on permits for Coyote Buttes North (The Wave): We discontinued in-person lotteries at the Kanab Field Office following advice from the CDC, and state and local health authorities. We aren’t able to move the walk-in lottery online due to complexities in the online system.
However, as part of our transition of our wilderness permits to http://Recreation.gov , we will be able to add those “walk-in lottery” permits to http://Recreation.gov  if public health recommendations are still in effect. The first day to enter that lottery would be July 1.
Putting the “walk-in” lottery online will match the regular online lottery system, which is 3 months in advance. Entering the lottery in July will be for hiking dates in November. Applications submitted to the online lottery in July will run on August 1 for November permits.
When COVID-19 public health recommendations are lifted, the walk-in permits and lotteries will return to the Kanab Field Office. BLM rules remain in effect; you must have permits for day hiking at Coyote Buttes North and South. (Overnight camping is prohibited at both sites).
