It's almost 2 AM and I've had this on my mind for a while, so I'm going to make a thread about music and anime twt, and how they have more in common than you'd might think. I'm going to look at both sides of the sterotypical weeb that hates lyrics and loves japanese and lo-fi

hip hop to study to.

Now I'm gonna be honest: I don't get this thing people have that weebs don't like music, they might not like western music that much but they still love MUSIC and not just "ANIME MUSIC". They just don't know it yet. And I think weebs not liking western music

Is stupid too. But back to the first point. There's one reason why I think weebs are all secretly music fans: "anime music" is actually diverse af.

Both anime OSTs and openings can vary SO much from show to show even within one series there could be tons of different genres ranging from rock, 20 different types of pop, hip hop, metal and all kind of shit. And sure most OSTs are "classical" but some are legit groundbreaking

and experimental like the AOT soundtrack. I'd argue the average weeb has a more diverse music taste than most dudes on hip hop twitter. They just don't know it because they think they're just listening to "anime music". But why do these people, who actually have diverse tastes,

hate western music, or don't listen to it as much? Well most of them would agree they don't like topic subjects that are frequent there. Like they think most rap is about sex and drugs and whatnot. I'm noticing a pattern here and it's pretty simple: both sides are narrowminded.

I think not liking lyrics of western music is a pretty unvalid argument coming from a weeaboo. Because let's be honest here: for most people, lyrics don't matter. If you cared about lyrics you'd listen to music in a language you understood or at least read translations to every

single opening. But you don't, you just listen to anime openings because you love the SOUND of them. Why can't it be the same with western music too? And trust me a lot of japanese music has stupid lyrics too. The only time lyrical content matters is when the artist is making

a big deal of it, like in most hardcore hip hop. Now I used to ONLY listen to that kind of hip hop but today playboi carti is one of my most listened to artists, seriously, lyrics don't matter that much, for most people. And if you want deep lyrics you can still get that from

western subgenres line singer-songwriter or indie. You're just too narrow-minded to give western music a fair chance. Let me make this point clear: the reason I'm making this thread is NOT because I'm some kind of nationalist with an agenda against japanese people. I LOVE

japanese popculture, anime and music. But I don't see why you should limit yourself to japanese music when you might find a lot of great western music too. Just find new music, it's quarantine time anyway.

TL;DR: The music twitter nerds should stop acting all high and mighty and instead invite weebs to broaden their already diverse taste to western music. And weebs should stop being so dumb and believe stereotypes about black music first and foremost. Some of my best moots on this
