Back in 2008 my family and I had the opportunity to have lunch with Coach Eddie Sutton and his family. I was 11 years old and completely awestruck meeting one of the greatest coaches in the history of college basketball. Growing up an OSU fan this was a dream come true.

His storytelling was unmatched that day. He told stories in incredible about games played from years prior and exact scenarios in incredible detail. I had question after question and he answered every one with a smile on his face like I was family.

I wished that lunch would never end. Thankfully, we’ve shared a friendship with the Sutton family over the years and have gotten to see each other from time to time. I wish the news of Coach getting in the Hall of Fame came sooner. But, better late than never I guess.

Congratulations, Coach Sutton. You earned this years ago and I couldn’t be happier for you and your family. When I saw the news today I had a smile on my face as big as I did when I was 11 years old and shook your hand for the first time.
