one of the things that i weirdly haven't seen discussed in conversations about #SDCC's potential (ie ****ing-better-happen-already) cancellation is: what the HECK would the programming even be, if the con went forward?
like, obviously that's not quite as relevant as the Potential Threat of Literal Death™ involved with flinging 100,000+ people cheek-by-jowl into a cramped convention centre with zero elbow room and an inadequate number of bathrooms and sanitization during an Actual Plague, but:
say even the most LUDICROUSLY best case estimates happened and it was totally zero risk and the con went forward
you still are looking at an entertainment landscape where literally almost every single thing that was planned to be previewed or announced, would uhh... not?

pretty much every single tv show that normally presents panels at SDCC has had their production shut down, and/or seriously delayed.
you can't give fans a sizzle-reel if the show is still waiting to restart its filming schedule

most of the major movie productions AND release schedules have been pushed back, so at *best* you're either promoting a movie that's already had its trailer out for months or years, or trying to hype something that won't come out for another year
comic book releases have just... stopped, outright. even if they restart again, all of the books that were delayed still have to be released FIRST, and again, they're not going to start
what's left? small panels? you don't need a big con for that, if it's just a couple people in a room talking about writing or whatever, you can do that in a streamed videoconference
toy releases? indie artist booths? in THIS ECONOMY?
everyone is gonna be too broke for collectibles, & we all say we're going to be supporting art, but after few months of unemployment, nobody's going to be buying shit, & artists will be at a huge loss, considering table costs

in short: #CancelSDCC, you irresponsible twats
