So I just finished the TROS doc & I wanna make something clear bc, given recent conversations within the fandom, I’m v aware that I’ve been pumping out a lot of criticism & what could be perceived as negativity on the TL recently.
Every single person involved in TROS should be insanely proud of themselves for the simple fact that they contributed to the making of a film. Watching these docs always blows my mind at the sheer, staggering level of talent, skill, hard work, passion, imagination & collaboration
I always find it profoundly moving & deeply joyful getting a behind the scenes look at the people involved & what it takes to make any film, let alone one on such a breathtaking scale, especially as a filmmaker. The sense of family & community is such a beautiful, human thing.
I really don’t want that sense of achievement to be diminished by the criticism of the film. I can imagine how disheartening & frustrating that must be & I fully empathise; these are natural & understandable emotions. And I do feel some guilt for possibly contributing to that.
(Not that anyone involved is reading my tweets, but more in a sort of “putting it out into the universe” kind of way).

However, the fans are also a part of that community. When you’re making films that contribute to the kind of phenomenon that SW has become...
then you are taking on the burden & responsibility for the endless depth & importance of what these films mean to the people that you are making them for.

Yes, DLF & JJerrio had an impossible task. They were never going to be able to please everyone. I can’t imagine the pressure
BUT the root of all of my criticism is not in them as people, but in my perceived failure to fulfil their jobs as artists & caretakers of this film as a crucial, defining final piece, and what that means in terms of the storytelling, themes & core messages of SW as a whole.
I actually sincerely hope that JJerrio genuinely believe that they did a good job, bc as a filmmaker/artist, I would personally be absolutely crushed by the criticism of this film & the depth of betrayal felt by SW fans. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.
But I also believe in our absolute right as fans, whose lives & beliefs & joy & sadness has been so deeply shaped by SW, to express our thoughts & feelings about how it ended.

To LF creators I would just say: We are part of the family too. We matter. Please don’t act otherwise.
