TW: Mental abuse, heavy topics, vent
Why do parents do the thing where if their kid expresses any sort of negative feeling or feels something the parent doesnât want them to they tell the kid theyâre being dramatic https://twitter.com/goblingabe/status/1246223420079001600">https://twitter.com/goblingab...

Think itâs funny how I was called dramatic and told I was faking my colorblindness I suspected since I was 6, found out it was very much a real thing.
Or how I was dramatic for not eating onions and feeling sick when I ate garlic, that I was fine and was just picky. Same thing with dairy too. Turns out I was allergic to garlic and onions, and also lactose intolerant.
When I said I wanted to be a boy I was told I confused and that itâs because of something that happened to me when I was a kid. I said I was bi, was told it was a phase. My stepdad said I was asexual because he could never see me with anyone.
When I said I was depressed I got asked âwhat do you have to be depressed about?â When I said I wanted to die I was told I was selfish and that I was fine.
Oh how I wish I could actually express my feelings without the fear of being called dramatic thanks to my parents drilling into my head that showing emotion or asking for any kind of help is selfish and attention seeking. I just want to be believed when I say Iâm not okay.
I cut out a couple tweets from this thread because they were too heavy of topics for the public and I donât think anyone needs any triggers, sorry this was so long. Iâll probably delete this later.
