Interesting to see the convergence of 4th Generation Warfare, a counterinsurgency doctrine produced by a paleocon, fused with Duginism by the refuse of the Alt Right. Dugin's already posited this as "4th political warfare" vis-Ă -vis his "4th political theory." /1 https://twitter.com/LCRWnews/status/1245991527651794944
Some of it has to do with a "hearts-and-minds" strategy of avoiding open violence, but most of it is about rescaling conflict to psychological factors involving enhanced sabotage/subversion techniques that exploit tensions and fissures between liberalism and its discontents. /2
The idea is to braid liberalism and the "establishment" such that populist movements default to illiberalism, drawing together disparate ideological factions into a syncretic movement organized around opposition to the North Atlantic. /3
There is a reason fascists get worked up about "naming the Jew." Their ideology is modeled after the left, especially statist authoritarians, such that they reject capital as liberal, and they associate liberalism with Judaism, a la Enlightened secularism. /4
So they are happy to run with the left in rhetorical terms while infiltrating left-wing groups (ie, 4th political warfare), but they get really excited when they are able to insinuate anti-Semitism within anti-capitalism and make the two seem synonymous. /5
We've seen, for instance, fascists enter the anarchist movement under a "class first" doctrine that elides all other struggles against misogyny, racism, etc., so that they can whittle away resistance to white hegemony and even nationalism on the left. /6
But we've also seen them do this in terms of Maoism and Stalinism, apropos the "National-Bolshevik" tendency from which Duginism derives. Of course, its progenitors (Thiriart, Mutti, Bouchet) were engaged in entryism into the the left and the same "4GW" style in the '70s. /7
So when the fascists are talking about Duginism and about using anti-"Atlanticist" subversion to destroy the U.S., we should be on our guard that they are getting better at imitating the left and subverting it. They are practicing this, it's not just BS. /8
Stuff to look out for:
- "lefter than thou" attitude
- "you're too weak"
- hatred of intersectionality
- anti-equality
- conspiracism
- playing down Holocaust denial
- blaming Israel for literally everything
- unmitigated support for authoritarian dictatorships
- anti-trans...
/9
Basically my advice is to work and organize with people you love and respect, who won't push you to do things you don't want to do, and who don't turn other people off with aggressive posturing and alienating behavior (conspiracy theories, etc). We're all in this together. /Ends
