Today& #39;s briefing, which I& #39;m just now watching, is genuinely disturbing. Like, slide fully into cult-autocracy disturbing. I& #39;ve never heard so many government programs described as "President Trump& #39;s program" or "At his direction" or "Because of his leadership."
This isn& #39;t tone policing. It& #39;s not pedantry. This is government, in a crisis, deifying a single man. Like, "Just as President Trump is working to make sure COVID-19 healthcare is paid for, so is President Trump working to research new treatments."
That is not healthy in a democracy. It& #39;s dangerous. And I hope someone starts to ask them why he& #39;s being credited as though he is personally the entire government apparatus.
He& #39;s not doing any of those things. He& #39;s not paying for research. You are. I am. He& #39;s not covering our medical bills.
The PRESIDENT DOESN& #39;T HAVE GUIDELINES.
The President did not build anyone a hospital. He didn& #39;t pay for one. He didn& #39;t equip one. He didn& #39;t design one. He couldn& #39;t find where one was built on a map if someone showed him the neighborhood.
