This is a serious thread of discussion of a topic which as a nurse, I was thinking about yesterday. I do know many folks never give thought to exactly how different systems of their body work. Usually unless there is something wrong with the one of the systems like the
cardiac, nervous, urinary or gastrointestinal systems do people then learn what is wrong and indirectly learn how they work often with other parts of the body being important to proper functioning. Or if they don't work as part of the 'team' effort, then there is illness. To
but also their physical activity, their diets and stress can mean a deterioration in overall health.
Different effects are more noticeable than others such as people lapsing into bad health choices, such as drinking more alcohol or any if having a problem with addiction.
Or others may give up on a health diet and revert to eating what they think are 'comfort' foods such as salty or sweet food choices.

With this in mind, I thought a little education about the gastrointestinal system would be helpful for everyone to understand the absolute need
The second link is a video with excellent explanations of how the gastrointestinal system works and how there is are many other parts of the body which contribute to what is considered healthy bowel functioning. It is 14 minutes long, but I've watched it and it is very
informative and well presented for non-medical individuals. I hope this information will give you more resolve to be even more attentive to your diet and choices of foods and definitely making sure you drink enough water daily.
I would be interested in any feedback or your own suggestions to share about maintaining your own gastrointestinal health. Eat well, reduce stress and stay healthy during these weeks of lifestyle challenges. I have written previous articles about the holistic approach to
mind-body health and stress reduction. If interested, I'd be happy to post some of them too. This thread above, I wrote today with the added links.
