My concepts for an imagined Fatal Frame sequel, but if it was given the revival treatment similar to Resident Evil and Silent Hill.
Simply titled "Project Zero"

The game would follow a journalist who is seeking to uncover a supernatural web of mystery throughout Japan in 2003.

The Camera Obscura would be swapped for a camcorder that has similar exorcism properties. The game would be entirely in first person.
The game would utilize actual locations in Japan and have a more modern setting. It would take its influences from J-horror found footage movies like Noroi: The Curse.
The ghosts would frequent hot spots where tragic event occurred.
Ancient folklore has always been the bread and butter of the Fatal Frame series. But this game would also explore modern urban legends like the Inunaki tunnel.
Human ghosts wouldn't be the only things featured in the game. There would also be more cosmic horror and strange supernatural entities captured by the Camcorder Obscura.
Slight open world exploration would allow for a large variety of locations. Each featuring unique ghost encounters like the previous games in the series.
Being a journalist, your job would be to collect as much evidence and testimony from people as you can. These tape sessions would be an immersive version of the radio and tape recordings from the previous games.

The sessions would also feature subtle things in the background...
