I promise the film camera I shoot on does not matter, the only advice I would give gear wise for 35mm film is to get an SLR you can use modern glass with if you already shoot on a DSLR
regardless though, I have a minolta sightseer zoom point and shoot, and I’ve shot two canon SLRs I use my EF lenses with. the two SLRs are the elan ii and eos 10s
also, developing your own film is a little intimidating but the quality you get scanning your own is unmatched compared to a lab. I use an epson v600 photo and typically scan files at about 8x higher resolution than a lab would which allows me to crop down a lot more when needed
the colors in my photos are mostly from work I do in post processing, it usually has nothing to do with the film stock or camera. I like the grain and exposure I get out of shooting film so I choose to do that rather than shooting digital, it makes it easier to execute my vision
