Drew Lock rookie thread:
3rd / 8. Second drive of the game for DEN. Lock was not asked to do a damn thing in either series, but this is still a nice go-ball for his first TD. Nice that he can find / follow through a strong release point w/ basically just his arm.

3rd / 5. Cam Sutton alone at bottom of screen w/ what looks like a double-team. At snap, the inside DB over Sutton squares to LoS to play the flat and match the back ... Lock sees it and knows Sutton is no longer doubled ... slides up and whips a TD to the corner of the end zone.
2nd / 15. Simple mirrored hitch / seam. Concept is pretty obvious, so I have a hard time believing this could be any sort of miscommunication. Think Lock just straight up misses here.
Broncos coaching staff called this first game like they didn't trust Drew Lock to even read a coloring book
2nd / 9. LAC drop into Cover 3 from a five-man front, nothing crazy. Lock stares at the strong #1 the whole way and throw directly at the hook defender lol. Pretty egregious mistake even for a rookie.
1st / 10 on opening drive. Feel like I remember this playing being a talking point at the time, but all I have to say is I can at least applaud Lock for throwing this inside shoulder instead of leading toward the sideline near the defender.
2nd / 7. Nothing impressive mentally, but a pretty good job of Lock to jog back, buy himself time, and make the throw form an uncomfortable platform.
3rd / 12. Love that Lock is aggressive enough to rifle this one in once he sees the safeties bail into a split-field look. Decent enough ball to give Fant a chance at it. Touchdown Broncos.
3rd / 9. Lock feels the pressure at the snap and knows he needs to move his launch point. Rips on 35 yards down the sideline in a spot that both outpaces the CB, yet settles before the FS arrives. Killer throw.
2nd / 8. DEN in split back gun. Lock knows the weak EDGE and weak ILB are the only two who can/will have the weak RB underneath. Lock opens with eyes on weak ILB and sees him open hips to the strong RB, which gives Lock green light to throw to weak RB 1-on-1 vs weak EDGE.
2nd / 10. I am almost positive Lock looks directly at the S bailing to the right sideline at the snap. *Maybe* if Lock throws immediately, he has a chance to beat him, but Lock hesitates, which gives the S all the time in the world to jump this for an easy INT. Lock -> brain off.
1st / 10. Lock takes 0-yard "sack," but kinda tough to blame him for much year. Two-man route concept and KC 53 does a great job to 'robot' and help out with the deep over route. Nowhere for Lock to throw while 32 gets home on the blitz immediately.
1st / 10. In terms of process, this is a fine play from Lock. Wants slant right out of the fake, but sees it is smothered by the CB. Moves to the deep comeback and throws with solid timing, but WR isn't really able to get out of the break because of the weather / conditions.
Like, in normal weather / conditions, this ball probably has a good chance of being complete. Lock tries to put it on the sideline for the WR to work back to. Just tough for the WR to get traction and burst back to sideline.
