An exposition on how Pakistan defied the United States to become Nigeria's closest defence ally, in a series of events that included a Saudi F-15 intercepting a Pakistani C-130 plane bound for Lagos over Saudi airspace. (THREAD)
(1) In 2014 the United States blocked the sale of attack helicopters by Israel to Nigeria for its fight against Boko Haram. The transfer of such aircraft requires a review to determine its “consistency with US policy interests,” Obama administration said.
(2)The sale was halted because of allegations of human rights violations by our troop the U.S State Department said. BHT slaughter of innocent lives and kidnapping of girls to be sold into slavery or used as suicide bombers
(3)This is Nigeria, the world's 4th largest democracy and the U.S biggest trading partner. This coincided with the time the U.S was profering military aid to the continents only two autocratic regimes, both of whom have held power since 1984 and 1989.
(4) These were the new strategic partners of the world's two oldest constitutional democracies, the U.S and France. Anyone who knows the rudiment of guerrilla warfare know a timely replacement of weapons lost to attrition is crucial.
(5) The bad guys can get what they need at the black market with twice the speed and a tenth the price. The Jonathan administrations and his intelligence chiefs knew too well the U.S and France was out to frustrate Nigeria's war effort.
(6)They had predicted a Nigeria breakup by 2015 and would go all out to bring the 2008 CIA prediction to fruition. They had predicted a Nigeria breakup by 2015 and would go all out to bring the 2008 CIA prediction to fruition.
(7) To hide from the U.S the Pres.Jonathan chartered a private jet from a Nigerian pastor and used agents to secure a deal for precious armaments from the South African Defence firm Denel. We are talking about something as basic as drones, bullets and rifles.
(8)Denel agreed to the deal and payment would be made by cash. The Jonathan administration greatly underestimated the reach off the CIA.
This is an Agency that has its own independent armed forces with highly trained commandos and operates 12,000 drones.
(9)And so on the 14th of September 2014 the agents boarded a Bombardier Challenger 600 plane from Abuja for South Africa with three suitcases full of cash. But they were in for a big surprise. By the time the touchdown SA agents were already waiting for them
(10) Upon touch down they were apprehended. The agents provided documentation confirming that they had come to South Africa to buy weapons and told officials they were acting on behalf of the Nigerian intelligence service.
(11)The national conventional arms and control committee, which house to approve the import and export of any weapons as well as issue permits for such transactions in South Africa claimed not to be aware of the deal even though Denel Dynamics said otherwise.
(12) SA authorities transfered the cash to the Central Bank pending the investigation. Remember guys this was September 2014, by this time boko Haram was on a bloodlust killing spree, capturing territory after territory.
(13) By the end of September Boko Haram had conquered an area the size of Belgium. While was getting weapons, Nigerians attempts to get weapons was being twarted with remarkable precision at every angle.
(14) To show you how naive the Jonathan administration was, another attempt was made in October, this time with Israel agents barely three later. The Israeli man who landed in Johannesbug in a private jet this time with suitcases with combination locks.
(15) The Israeli national named Eyal Mesika had the combination to open the locks. This time the South African Arms company came out and said they had already agreed to the deal that everything was done within the law.
(16) An entire shopping list was supplied with the certificate which included everything from helicopters to unmanned aircrafts, rockets etc. The transaction was between Cerberus Risk Solutions in Cape Town and Societe D'Equipments, a Nigerian company.
(17)But South Africa was determined to use this opportunity to embarrass the Nigerian government. South African laws startes that a person entering or leaving the country is expected to carry cars not exceeding $2300.
(18) This time the seizure sparked anger in Nigeria after it emerged that the private jets involve belong to the head of the Christian Association of Nigeria Ayo Oritsejafo. Some even linking it as SA pay back over the Synagogue Church disaster
(19)Now this is the interesting part. The Nigerian government later admitted it was behind the arms deal with lemon in it acted out of desperation for arms to defeat the extremist boko Haram. This was not enough for them to have sympathy
(20)They confiscated the funds and said it would be released pending further investigations which would have taken months.
(21) In November a Pakistani Air Force C-130 Hercules cargo plane laden with Gazelle helicopters and scores of ammunition took off from a base in Karachi bound for Nigeria. Two Saudi Air Force jets intercepted the plane and forces it to land.
(22)The C-130 was intercepted by two F-15 fighter jets. The Saudi's said the was not responding to voice calls from Saudi controlling station, which the pilots denied. The plane was shadowed and forced to land for necessary investigation
(23) The plane was discovered to contain helicopters and crates of munitions with a flight manifesto bound for Nigeria. This causing serious rift between Pakistan and the United States. That plane never made it to Nigeria.
(24)That plane never made it to Nigeria. However Ialamambad vowed to forge closer military ties with Nigeria in the area of military training and transfer of technology.Nigeria turned to China for unmanned aerial vehicles in a secretive deal.
(25) Nigeria also sources second hand equipments from Ukraine and the Czech Republic in the interim and placed an order for 12 brand new MI-25M helicopters from Russia that was to be delivered in batches by 2020.
(26) The false narrative that Nigerian soldiers cant fight was blown out od the water when, with these weapons the Nigerian military swiftly retook the initiative from Boko Haram, inflicting massive casualties from the air. Boko Haram was not prepared.
(27). In response to the change in fortune as tide tiltes in Nigerias favour, the U.S threw a knock out punch when Obama announced made the shocking announcement that the U.S has stopped the importation of Nigerian oil
(28)For a country where 80% of its foreign exchange earnings come from the sale of crude, this punch below the belt sent the Nigerian economy reeling into it's worst economic recession in 35 years. It took Nigeria nearly 3 years to recover
Quick note before the havalanch of any sayers come in. I am not a conspiracy theorist neither so i have time to dabble in fantasy. Everything in this exposition can be verified online. EVERYTHING.
