Lukka is an important Planeswalker representative for red. Here's why.

First, let's review other red Planeswalkers, from the perspective of how they express red's slice of the color pie.

(A thread.)

Chandra wears her heart on her sleeve.

So she's been great at demonstrating both anger and love.

The nature of fire is fitting for her personality, given that fire is both able to be destructive yet something we need to survive.
Sarkhan is a bit different from Lukka in regards to red creatures.

There isn't a focus on forming a bond with another individual.

Nay, Sarkhan has a reverence for the ways of specifically Dragons, which does include ruthlessness and savagery.

It's a freeing way of life.
Koth is a great contrast to both Chandra and Sarkhan.

Red can be impulsive, yet he exhibits patience that other, fiery Planeswalkers don't.

He's passionate yet patient. He's stubborn because he cares so damn much.

His geomancy demonstrates well his immovability.

For freedom.
Tibalt is great at showing how red indulges in the happy kind of emotions.

More of the short-term joy. The little things.

Like tormented screams. Or observing great emotional pain. 😬

Blightning/Browbeat showcases physical pain AND forcing sadistic choice for emotional pain.
Daretti represents both rummaging and red artifice. Together, the flavor is him seeing treasure in "trash."

This also ties into his story, a catalyst for another aspect of red: vengeance.

Daretti was wronged. He's seen as "less than." As treasure viewed as trash.

Revenge time.
Chandra and Jaya are both fire mages, yes. But differ.

Chandra's emotionally intense.

Jaya stresses another red way of life: live a little. Laugh. Don't be so serious.

Jaya's fire is powerful. She knows what she's talking about.

Pre-test stress? Relax.
You'll perform better.
Where Jaya has devil-may-care attitude, Rowan counters blue's ways in a different manner.

Rowan represents the "leap before your think" philosophy of red. Action instead of inaction. Courage instead of prudence.

Daydreamy, second-guessing bro Will contrasts her to amplify this.
Lukka represents empathy. Hard to do on red cards.

When you have an environment where you can make a choice how you form your relationship w/ monsters, compassion shines. He cares for red creatures!

Notice the general isn't red.
Jirina, daughter of the general, is - like Lukka.
