Quarantine is really making me see cats for what they are. Poorly behaved, sassy, rude, needy children.
On day 11 of quarantine with my fiance and cat I was awoken at 6:10am by said cat scratching the bedroom door only to run making a noise that I can only describe as laughing when I met her with my scariest roar.
After a repeat of this for 45 minutes I gave the cat early breakfast and explained that whilst the whole globe is rationing foods she also must accept more dry biscuits and less tuna.
At 7:20am following this conversation I made an urgent, expensive amazon prime order for premium organic cat food.
By 11am Ginny has ventured in and out of the house 40+ times which requires me manually leaving my makeshift desk, apologising to my team via video chat and escorting her to the shared garden via two doors.
At 2pm Ginny and the next door cat were found in the garden with fluffed tails growling ferociously at one another and ignoring all instruction. I risked my life and stood in front of Ruby to usher Ginny in. I gave her the gift of freedom. I worried about her.
She didn't choose to come in out of harms way but instead ran from me back towards the enemy as though I am the enemy. She hissed at Rebecca.
At 3pm Ginny was spotted in the kitchen sink drinking water direct from the tap despite my "fresh water for the cat every morning" provision. She did not look up when I ordered her to stop.
At 6pm Ginny reluctantly ate 2-3 of her biscuits and turned up her tail but was soon spotted eating chocolate cake from Rebecca's hand. Ginny clawed the sofa incessantly whilst doing so and then settled in for licking her malting fur.
At 7pm Ginny clawed me upon my attempt to brush her following a daily episode of fur balls over the past week. Ginny instead ordered that I allow her outside once again as it had been 6 seconds since she last arrived in.
At 7:30pm Ginny arrived back inside and as I ate my dinner after a difficult day, she cuddled up in the litter tray and did a huge revolting poo. Ginny then basked in the setting sun whilst I cleaned it up.
