sinθ’s featured writer of the week is poet and writer Natalie Lim @nataliemlim! Based in Vancouver, Canada, Lim's works describe the intensity of everyday emotion with gentle intimacy.
The strength of Lim's writing lies in its associative nature; her personal anecdotes bleed into the memories of others and social phenomena.
At the same time, her poetry is deeply reflective and open. In 'how do you tell someone', published by @honeyandlimelit, Lim's work is powerful in the coupling of honesty of her yearning and the self-consciousness of translating such feeling into writing.
Lim's writing is consistent in its appeal to environments; both real and imagined. @The_Temz_Review's
'aftermath' invokes the longing for a person with images of apocalyptic nature and domestic life combined.
These features work together to create poetry that is comfortable in its speculative nature. Lim writes, rewrites, and hopes for narratives which emerge out of her lived experiences.
In times like these, one may find comfort in Lim's poetry in its acknowledgement of quiet moments of togetherness: a pet's excitement for the outdoors, the sound of another person's music on the bus, the company of a loved one on a walk.
