Anyone who knows the Merion club history well: how much involvement did C.B. Macdonald have on the East course? It's well documented it's a Wilson, but I've started to go down the rabbit hole on this issue. The use of templates in the early stages of Merion is interesting.

For example: the 3rd originally was supposed to be a redan, the 10th an alps template. I believe the 6th might've been a road-inspired green, the 17th today has a "valley of sin" feature. Curious to hear anyones thoughts
