– why you should watch humans (2015) !! (a thread)

pls give this show the attention it deserves
(slight spoilers included but nothing too heavy)

– summary
• 'humans' takes place in a reality where we have human-like robots named 'synths' (short for synthetic). it explores how synths are treated in daily society & makes you question whether our own reality could go into a similar direction.

• trailer:

• the concept is similar to the game 'detroit: become human' so if you've enjoyed playing or watching storylines from that, this might be for you!

• some synths have thoughts & feelings just like a human. inevitably, they want the same rights & freedom that we have.
• this creates an excellent & complex topic surrounding equality. can the human race accept synths in all areas of their daily lives? what will that entail?

– a gripping storyline, starts simple yet 100% effective

• an easy binge! 3 seasons & 8 episodes in each
• no stand alone eps. each is continuous & well paced.
• the first episode is such a great introduction the characters & plot. it left me wanting to know more!

– a lot of themes are relatable & domestic whilst still being something new

• the hawkins family alone show a large range of reactions to their new life changes revolving around synths.

• whether it's a mother attempting to hold her family together, a father trying to maintain a job, an A Level student, a teenage boy with wild hormones, or a little girl still in primary school, everyone reacts differently to having a one in their home environment.

– all around phenomenal cast & acting!

• including the eternals' gemma chan, bbc merlin's colin morgan, shadowhunters' will tudor & black panther's letitia wright.

– a well written lesbian relationship!

• doesn't end in death for either party
• astrid is the first human being who treats niska with respect & consent is hugely valued
