On 4th April 1979, a military dictator hanged Bhutto in a sham trial.

His death made ZAB immortal and he is still alive in our hearts

On the 41st death anniversary, I am dedicating my thread to the Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Bhutto family & PPP supporters.

Thread:
In 1958 Bhutto wrote a letter to Sikander Mirza:
"When the history of our country is written by objective Historians, your name will be placed even before that of Mr. Jinnah"
•When Fatima Jinnah decided to run an election against the 'Gen Ayub" she offered Bhutto to join her.

•Bhutto declined Fatima Jinnah's offer and supported Gen Ayub.

•Bhutto also mentored Ayub how to speak in rallies
•Bhutto lost an election to Mujib, he blackmailed tht no govt can work without his support.

•Refused to attend NA session in Dhaka & threatened his legislatures of "breaking their legs" if they dared to go

•Proposed Mujib to rule East Pak& Bhutto West "Idhar Hum, udhar tum"
پیپلز پارٹی کے بانی بنگالیوں کو ایک جلسے میں کہہ رہے ہیں:

"جہنم میں جاو سور کے بچو"
•Akbar Bugti believed deadlock after the 70 election was caused by the Bhutto & he was "worse and more ruthless than former Pres Ayub Khan"

•Bhutto convinced Yahya to believe that military action against Bengalis is the only solution of a current impediment.
Bhutto was convincing dictator Yahya to kill 20k Bengalis to make things favorable for him.

On 26th March, ZAB returned from East Pak, where a military op against Bengalis was started.
On his return to KHI airport ZAB said:

"By the Grace of God Pakistan has at last been saved"
Bhutto aftr losing the 1970 election (won 0 seats frm Balochistan& 1 from NWFP) became self-proclaimed representative of West Pakistan.

He threatened that without his support no constitution would be made because power lay in Punjab.
After '65 war, Ayub started to sideline ZAB and was even ordered to resign as secretary general of Ayub's Muslim League.

In June,1966 Ayub told ZAB to resign from his party.
After being sacked from Ayub's cabinet, Fatima Jinnah requested to meet Bhutto.

Bhutto was not remorseful for not supporting Fatima Jinnah against Ayub as he would not like to be a subordinate of a "WOMAN" or Bengalis.
ZAB position on Yahya's martial law:

"Yahya Martial law is the reflection & requirements of our times..Martial law is a factual position and we are dealing with the reality of power.."
In 1971,whn Pak was at the brink of war, ZAB asked Governor SBP to withdraw state assets frm East Pak

Gov SBP refused, ZAB took the rebuff poorly

After ZAB became president one of his 1st actions was to dismiss Gov SBP, threw him in prison&accused him in a league with the CIA.
Bhutto dismissed Justice Nana because as per ZAB, Justice Nana's father was Bhutto's father's enemy.
ZAB told Nusrat (2nd wife), he married her cousin for her "Property" & he felt no physical attraction towards her.

Bhutto had one daughter from his first wife but Bhutto family disowned her and denied ZAB had any offspring from her.
•Whilst Bhutto was in the US & still married to Amir Begum, he was dating multiple women.

• In 1949, upon his return to Pak for his sister's wedding, Bhutto proposed Nusrat.

•Bhutto returned & still continued dating women.

(Bhutto's fav beers - Draught & Cold Beer)
•In 1961,while Bhutto still had two wives, ZAB started to date a married woman from Dhaka.

•ZAB was so magnetized by Husna that one night she threw out Nusrat from home after their fight.

• Ayub had to intervene & ordered Bhutto to take his wife back else he would be sacked.
While ZAB was in New York as Pakistan's foreign minister, he attended a night club and asked Rita Dar to sleep with him, Rita refused but ZAB replied:

"..Any woman in Karachi would be honored to be asked"
•Bhutto continued his affair with Husna, as she left her husband & Bhutto helped Husna settled in KHI near his home.

•Begum Nusrat knew about Bhutto's extra-marital affair & gave up on him.

•So much disgusted by Bhutto's affair that Begum Nusrat attempted suicide once.
While married to two wives and also kept Husna, Bhutto also had extramarital affairs with his party member wives, Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi & his lawyer Hafeez Pirzada.
Even though Husna considered herself Bhutto's third wife, Bhutto kept Husna his concubine as he denied marrying her.
When Mustafa Khar came to know about his 4th wife's extra-marital affair, he went to ZAB to seek advice.

ZAB advised him to kill his wife in cold blood.
After Bangladesh got independence from Pakistan, Bhutto used secret discretionary funds to destabilize Bangladesh govt, one of the aim was to strengthen Islamists to make Bangladesh the "Islamic Republic of Bangladesh".
To counter Pashtunistan movement that was financed and supported by AFG & Indian govt, Bhutto set up a cell that supported Islamists against President Daoud govt.

(A good move by Bhutto to counter AFG & India nefarious plans)
ZAB dismissed NAP (current ANP) provincial govts in 1973 & 75.

Accused Wali Khan for running secessionist militant movement, started military op in Balochistan, opened treason cases against Wali Khan&banned NAP (this happened after Sherpao assassination)
Bhutto removed Gen Gul & AM Rahim by kidnapping them.

Gen Yahya was Chief martial law administrator in East Pak, made him COAS after removing Gen Gul.

ZAB also made Gen Akbar his advisor.

ZAB used to mock & made fun of Gen Zia in front of everyone - he used to call him monkey.
Bhutto used FSF (Pak Gestapo) against his own party members & opposition leaders.

Got his mentor (J.A. Rahim) brutally beaten because Rahim made disparaging remarks.

Opened cases against Ch Zahoor such as Bhains Choori & Weapons smuggling on camel-back.
Internal security wing of ISI was created by Bhutto, among other tasks ZAB also tasked to monitor the activities of his political opponents.

Bhutto bugged phones and offices of his own ministers and monitored their personal lives.
In 1975, ZAB wanted to pass the 4th constitutional amendment from NA, that would curtail the powers of high courts.

Opposition wanted to hold a debate but not only they were denied the opportunity to speak but physically thrown out from NA.
Balochistan has multiple predicaments, one of them is "Sardari System", feudal exploit the situation for the promotion of their own self-interests.

In 1972, ZAB rightly abolished Sardari System & brought all of the BLH under Police ambit till it was reversed by 2008-13 PPP govt.
In all fairness, ZAB was winning the 1977 elections, but he wanted a 2/3rd majority to change the constitution to the presidential system.

He rigged 1977 elections, had he only been less greedy or insecure, he would most likely have won a majority, even if not 2/3rd.
Missed one point on Fall of Dhaka & Bhutto's oratory in UN:

Yahya sent ZAB to UN as his foreign minister, there was an opportunity to salvage a hopeless situation by accepting polish resolution but Bhutto didn't attend the session citing that he was indisposed due to Cold.
Still, outright capitulation might have been prevented, but Bhutto instead made an oration more befitting an election meeting in Mochi Gate than a speech in the security council.

Bhutto speech became very famous.
More detail on Bhutto's oratory in the UN's security council can be checked in this thread. https://twitter.com/tequieremos/status/1120551162959335424?s=19
