first of all, Ariana Grande is Ariana Grande and Mariah Carey is Mariah Carey. they are both successful and talented women who deserve to be recognized for their achievements, not for whether they resemble another artist.

both were some of the artists who defined the music industry of the last decades (mariah defined the 90s and 00s; ariana defined the 10s and surely the 20s too)

in this thread i'll be saying in order of some of the similarities that they share between them. it is not just that their singing is similar.

i'm going to start by talking about the VOCAL RANGE:

the quality they most compare them to is their ability to beat high notes and their whistle register.

Mariah possesses a five octave vocal range, and has the ability to reach notes beyond the 7th octave. Ariana has a four octave soprano vocal range.

now i'm going to talk about their impact on CHRISTMAS CULTURE:

they both have a Christmas hit. Ariana has "Santa Tell Me" and Mariah has "All I Want For Christmas Is You".

AIWFCIY is one of the most successful Christmas songs of all time. in the last two years, it reached the #1 in the Spotify's global top (at Christmas time) and number 1 in billboard, despite being released 25 years ago.

meanwhile, "Santa Tell Me" also gets a good spot on Spotify's global top, at number 3. obviously, it's not as successful as Mariah's hit, but maybe in a few years it will become bigger than now and remembered, like AIWFCIY.
