I spent this afternoon talking with law students worried about finding a job in this economy. A few thoughts.
There is a huge amount of need for legal services, but often not a way to pay for it. Plenty of reports out there about this- not the goal of this thread.
How can a student better their chances of figuring out a job? For whatever state you are in, join the local bar association. Interested in a particular area of law, join the section that is working on it.
It's usually free or low cost for students to join. The world of continuing legal education has moved online (not a surprise). Figure out who is presenting in the area you might be interested in. Consider reaching out to them for any advice they might be able to give you.
Know that attorneys are likely to be slammed with work, especially in key areas (landlord/tenant; bankruptcy; contract; employment; I'm sure others). Are you self motivated and can you work part time? In what feels like a lifetime ago, the firm I worked at hired someone part time
