Picked up #Asur on recommendation. Before starting itself sort of knew how it would turn out, since usual suspects in the media had been raving about it.
Anyway, they attempted a mix of thriller, forensic science and ‘mythology’ to give is a serial killer story (1/n)

There is Ofcourse a lot of hinduphobia and d common trope of a RWer / ‘Dharmic’ person going after idealist ‘Leftist’ social workers, doctors and just ‘nice, achiever’ type people.. the sly hinduphobia no longer comes as a surprise (2/n) #Asur

What is upsetting is, there are no attempts to even veil such insinuations ... forget Right leaning audiences who can pick up on such themes but please atleast fake an attempt to appeal to people who are fence sitters / without any set political ideologies? #Asur

The show has ridiculed and twisted everything.. from the Geeta’s teachings to Lord Krsna’s role in the Mahabharata to the theory of Karma to Jyotisha Vidya..and much more.. I stopped keeping count beyond a point #Asur

But d most upsetting thing as a content viewer was just how poorly written d show is! So muddled, soooo many glaring loopholes n sub par performances !
As a creative writer one may want 2 explore religion n push his own political agenda , n that’s OK..

But can u ATLEAST do it in style and with excellent story writing?!
Can you make good looking, stylish, well thought through propaganda?
Propaganda it will still be, but palatable atleast! #Asur

And finally, All through the show I wanted to personally cut Barun Sobti’s junglee mop of hair! What an annnnoyyying distraction!! Somebody please tell him brooding while smoking does not equal to a good performance
