WR draft capital (A Thread). Over the past 20 years draft capital has shown us a lot. However, just because you are drafted round 1 doesn’t give you a better chance to succeed over Rounds 2/3 guys. It’s just that elite players typically go in round 1. ⬇️
Number of WR to finish FF Top 5 at least once over the past 20 yrs
Round 1- 13 WRs
Round 2/4
Round 3/5
Round 4/2
Round 5/1- Tyreek
Round 6/1- Antonio Brown
Round 7/1- Edelman
If you’re betting on a WR to hit top 5 FF after round 3 it’s a long shot ⬇️
How about Top 12 Fantasy finishes at WR?
Round 1-9 WRs
Round 2/11
Round 3/5
Round 4/0
Round 5/2
Round6/0
Round7/2-Colston ⬇️
Top 24 finishes. A WR2 at least once in their career
Round 1/9 WRs
Round 2/9
Round 3/6
Round 4/5
Round 5/0
Round 6/0
Round 7/1- Kevin Walter ⬇️
But what about the BUSTS? Players drafted rounds 1-3 to never hit at least a top 24 season once?
Round 1-23 WRS
Round 2/33 WRS
Round 3/48 WRS
My conclusion is that WRs to have in FF are drafted in NFL rounds 1-3.⬇️
However, most elite WRS are drafted early so those should hit more often. But, being drafted in rounds 1-3 does not make you immune to BUSTING. You can filter in even more data to gain an even clearer picture of what the successful players looked like in while in college.
