When I was on Chemo:

An oncology nurse would: greet me at the desk, check my vitals, make sure my port was numb, talk to me about life to calm my nerves, administer the chemo, ask if I wanted to see the emotional support dog, check on me for the hours I was there, fix the tv
if it wasn’t working, do my lupron shot, answer my questions and fears about chemo side effects, remove the the Chemo infusion, remind me of my next appointment.

My oncologist would:
sometimes check on me and say hi while I was there.
There are hierarchies in hospitals folks, they don’t change much during a pandemic either.

Yes, show love to medical staff but understand they are not all created equal- there are positions that do wayyyy more all the time while getting underpaid and overlooked.
