The last couple of days, and the weeks leading to #OER20, have been pretty intense but very enjoyable, despite the tough times and changing plans. It has been fantastic to work with @MiaZamoraPhD @time_motion @MarenDeepwell @mhawksey + rest of @A_L_T @OERConf team
If you couldn't attend #OER20 you're still lucky because so many sessions were recorded & there is a wealth of information available from the website for you to check anytime. So much food for thought on bringing care to the core of education http://oer20.oerconf.org/programme/
In this thread just a few personal highlights & insights while they are still fresh. The 1st one is that I thoroughly enjoyed co-chairing #OER20 and really recommend the experience of being a @OERConf Co-Chair. Congrats to the #OER21 Co-chairs!
@savasavasava, in conversation w/ @MiaZamoraPhD at #oer20, looked at the intersection of care & education in the age of surveillance. Here the recording https://oer20.oerconf.org/sessions/keynote-sava-saheli-singh-chaired-by-mia-zamora/ and don't forget to watch the Screening Surveillance shortfilms

@Openreflections @joe_dev discussed the importance of open infrastructures for publishing and open access as a form of care. Recording

I was looking forward to welcoming @abrelatas in person at #OER20, but it was my pleasure anyway to chair the twitter keynote by @zemos98 on Pedagogy of Care #PoCare. Please check out the thread here https://twitter.com/ZEMOS98/status/1245656952073383936
I also enjoyed a lot presenting with @cri_ste & @jatenas at #oer20 on @openmedpro [2015-18] and reminded me how much I miss working on that project. Interested in Open Education in the South-Mediterranean region? Lots of open content for you here: https://openmedproject.eu/
I don't have space here to mention everybody, but thank you very much indeed to everyone in the #OER20 Committee and the Contributors for making it such a special event. And to @sheilmcn & rest of @A_L_T board for deciding to move online
Another highlight was having the chance to discuss with @BryanMMathers our ideas for the conference and seeing how he made them tangible/visible through his powerful illustrations
Working with @RichardNevell @pigsonthewing + the rest of the @wikimediauk and @disrupt_learn teams on the #WikiEdu20 Summit, an #OER20 satellite, was another highlight and allowed me to welcome @allisonl @LornaMCampbell at the Lab. Here some recording: https://wikiedusummit.coventry.domains/
Being a distributed event, we all joined #OER20 from different parts of the world and diverse timezones. However, most of us shared in common the experience of connecting from our homes in a strange moment of enforced social distancing = no collocation.
Despite having to pivot (in less than 2 weeks) #OER20 from a f2f event in London to online, we were determined to find ways of fostering serendipity+informal conversations beyond the programme. #OER20who has been brilliant http://oer20.socialbingo.oerconf.org/ Thanx to @cogdog @ReclaimHosting
and the #karaOERker has been also key to socialising and having fun at #OER20. Thanks to @jimgroom @timmmmyboy #ds106tv
the much expected #femedtechquilt #femedtech has been definitely another important highlight, driven by @francesbell and made possible by so many people. Thanx to @ammienoot for the digital version too. Such a work of affective labour https://quilt.femedtech.net/quilt/ #OER20
another highlight was the launch of the booklet with case studies about working with Wikimedia in the classroom by @wikimediauk in partnership with @EdinburghUni. Cannot wait to get hold of a copy! @lcromptonreid @HoneybHighton @emcandre https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wiki
Approaching open education through the lens of care and caring pedagogies have offered very rich perspectives at #OER20. Ultimately, care is not just about kindness, but about challenging power dynamics, structured inequalities and other forms of oppression
Over the next few days we will gather more thoughts and look forward to the reflections by many participants, which we will review on a final blogpost. In the meantime, I close this thread wishing a great weekend to the 2 other #OER20 co-chairs @MiaZamoraPhD @time_motion
