2) Governor Hogan spoke this morning to former Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, regarding her daughter, Maeve, and her grandson, Gideon. The coordinated search continues among federal, state, and local authorities.
3) Governor Hogan updates Marylanders on #COVID19 cases in the state and the region. We currently have cases and/or clusters of cases at *60* nursing homes and long-term care facilities across the state.
4) Governor Hogan provides an update on Public Safety and Correctional Services cases: a total of 17 confirmed cases in Jessup, Baltimore, and Hagerstown.
5) While we are particularly focused on these clusters, the governor reiterates: this disease does not discriminate. No one is immune.
6) The governor says, "I wish that I could tell you when we're going to turn the corner...We simply don't know just how bad things are going to get, or exactly how long this is going to last."
7) Governor Hogan: "No matter how long and how hard the road ahead may be, we are going to have to find a way together to keep going and to keep fighting this invisible enemy with everything we've got."
8) Today's calls: The governor spoke today with his Coronavirus Response Team, and municipal leaders. Will convene a call of the full Cabinet after the press conference.
9) Emergency legislation: Today, the governor enacted two pieces of emergency legislation to expand telehealth across the state. This helps people get care and evaluations from their providers by e-mail, telephone, or video.
10) SURGE PLANNING. Governor Hogan is ordering the acceleration of the state's surge planning, so it is completed SIX WEEKS ahead of schedule. Initial construction complete at field hospital site at Baltimore Convention Center. 100 have already been hired to staff the site.
11) TESTING SITES. We are opening TWO MORE drive-thru testing sites at vehicle emissions inspection stations: Columbia in Howard County, White Oak in Montgomery County. Remember that these are by appointment only.
12) FINANCIAL RELIEF. Governor Hogan is issuing an emergency order to provide additional and immediate financial relief for Marylanders facing economic hardship due to #COVID-19.
12a) The governor's order prohibits mortgage lenders from initiating the FORECLOSURE process. NEARLY 70 of the state's banks and financial institutions have agreed to a program to provide a 90-DAY PERIOD OF FORBEARANCE AND DEFERRAL ON MORTGAGES.
12b) During this period, NO LATE FEES will be charged, NO NEGATIVE REPORTING to credit bureaus. You must contact your financial services provider to take advantage of this relief.
12c) The governor's emergency order prohibits commercial and industrial evictions, expanding previous order banning residential evictions.
12d) The governor's emergency order prohibits REPOSSESSIONS of cars, trucks, and mobile homes.
12e) The governor is also directing that the Maryland Commissioner of Financial Regulation suspend certain lending limits for Maryland banks on a case-by-case basis. This will make more credit available for small businesses.
12f) State executive agencies will suspend all DEBT COLLECTION ACTIVITIES during the state of emergency.
