If you know you can save 10k lives, on the low end, by staying home for one month, and the government will compensate you for lost wages, you’d be a selfish fool to not stay home. Also, defiance only leads to extension of the *need* for quarantine. /1

If you want to see the economy bounce back as quickly as possibly, then take the hit now and prepare for the rush when quarantine ends. The idea that we either lose the economy completely or loose a significant portion of the population is another false binary choice. /2

We must stop, as individuals and as a nation, giving in to the binary impulse and instead look at the myriad options available for us to respond in any given crisis situation. This would require us all to stop looking at every event as one of political opportunity. /3

Those who seek to consolidate power in a crisis, whether that power is in the form of government action or inaction, control of communications/narratives in the various media empires, or even civilian militias, must be looked at with circumspection. /4

And to end this thread, I acknowledge none of the preceding will occur and instead all the old fights will rage on. The ratchet only cranks one way.
