But for some people ITU won’t help. It may mean an unpleasant end of life filled with tubes and machines with no benefit. That’s always been the case covid or no covid. ITU gives the body a chance to recover but in some cases it creates victims, not survivors. 2/

The decision to not admit a patient to ITU Is not a death sentence. 40% of those not suitable for invasive treatments will get better with ward level care. In some cases their chances of recovery are better if they don’t go to ITU 3/

It’s going to be a tough few months but we will do everything humanly possible to help people who need us.
