Americans at home: Are you wearing shoes inside throughout the day? If yes, why? Aren't your feet warm? Is this a regional phenomenon?

Sincerely,

Confused Canadian
If someone invites me in for a moment and says I can keep my shoes on, I tiptoe across their floors while grimacing in shame.
My mom grew up overseas, so shoes in the house were considered disrespectful/dirty. But nobody else I knew growing up wore shoes at home, so we weren't outliers.
