The COVID-19 stats in Canada follow an exponential pattern. The daily rates of growth inferred from this data range fairly widely, but are all positive--that is, both daily cases and daily deaths continue to increase.
Because reporting can vary over the week, a 7-day moving average--shown here as a dotted line--can convey trends more effectively. Cases over the past week have increased at a daily rate of 16 percent; deaths at 20 percent. Both trends appear reasonably steady.
The growth rate must turn negative before the daily cases and deaths begin to fall. There& #39;s no indication in the data that will happen soon; however, the slight fall at the end of the moving average of cases might indicate that isolation measures are proving fruitful.
