Unpopular opinion time: keep the Lakefront Trail, 606, and Riverwalk closed for the duration of shelter in place. It sucks for bike commuters, but we’d all get a quick crash course in the tragedy of the commons on a day like today otherwise.
Induced demand isn’t limited to cars: opening the trails and even pedestrianizing some streets encourages people who don’t need to be out and about to concentrate, and attracts other people from further neighborhoods.
Social distancing doesn’t stop at six feet. If you aren’t an essential worker or doing an essential task like getting supplies or going to a doctor, you probably shouldn’t leave a 2-mile radius of your home.
