It's Friday Again! Here is a THREAD of some Asian martial arts, thrilling, tactical and action packed movies over the past 10 years.
1. The Night Comes For Us (2019)

Joe Taslim delivered his best performance in this movie. The hand to hand combat and thirst for blood in this movie puts it at number one for me. It is thrilling, exciting, disturbing and glorious at the same time.
2. Furie (2019)

I have not seen an impressive action packed movie from a female lead like this in a while. This Vietnamese movie is bloody fantastic. This is a must watch
3. Master Z: The IP Man Legacy (2019)

After Ip Man defeated Tin Chi, he goes on to live a normal life but the street thugs in the new location bring him out of “retirement”. Bautista’s stunt man delivered lol
I love Max Zhang so..
4. Triple Threat (2019)

I must say that this movie promised so much when I saw the trailer but it didn’t really live up to the expectation for me. However, this doesn’t discount the fact that it is an action packed movie.
5. Revenger (2018)

If you are looking for an action-packed movie with absolutely splendid fight choreography, this is the movie. It touched on hand to hand, bow/arrow, sword, high kicks, low kicks combinations. Terrific!
6. Darc (2018)

This is a story of an American who grew up in a brothel and on the streets of Tokyo. He became very deadly and took on Yakuzas all alone. Superb sword fights and hand to hand combat. Just amazing!
7. Steel Rain (2018)

A political action-packed, espionage, tense, gritty and superb movie. Jung Woo-Sung brought his A-Game.
8. Illang: The Wolf Brigade (2018)

Jung Woo-Sung again in this movie. I have no other words to add.
9. Buy Bust (2018)

A group of drug enforcement agents make a bust in a slum. Little did they know they were up against everyone in the slum. This Filipino movies is bloody.
10. Paskal (2018)

This is an absolutely superb tactical movie. Easily realistic of a special forces group training, tactics and execution.
11. The Witch Part 1: Subversion (2018)

I have posted a clip from this before in my media. Just watch it
12. Shadow (2018)

Just adding this to the list because of the film tricks with “Blade umbrellas”. Never seen anything like this before in movie history.
13. The Great Battle (2018)

Everything about this movie is a 10! This is my favourite Asian epic war movie. Absolutely tactical.
14. Blade of the Immortal (2017)

A swordsman was caused to never die. He fights his way through an army of blood thirsty samurai. This is a slasher movie honestly. Based on a Manga series
15. Manhunt (2017)

A movie by John Woo. This Korean action thriller is so fantastic. Good storyline, good gun-fu style and great acting.
16. Brotherhood of Blades 1(2014) & 2 (2017)

Just as the titles imply, bladesssss
17. The Villainess (2017)

An elite assassin goes on rampage to earn her freedom….again
18. 24 Hours to Live (2017)

To me, Ethan Hawke delivered on this. Good story, great acting and nice tactical sequence. A fast paced action movie.

This isn't Asian though
19. Wolf Warrior 1 (2015) & 2 (2017)

Surely, I am gonna add these two to the list. Just watch these movies! My God!
20. The Great Wall (2016)

This is one of the most aesthetically pleasing cinematic experiences I’ve ever had. So colourful. So coordinated. It’s such a beautiful movie.
21. Boyka Undisputed (2016)

Boyka, our former villain, pledges his life to save a widow from servitude. He feels indebted to her because he killed her husband in a duel.
22. Headshot (2016)

Iko Uwais delivers a brilliant and violent performance in this. A man wakes up from coma to find himself fighting for his life. The past caught up with him and he has to battle his old colleagues.
23. The Rise of Legend (2014)

We know the story of the legendary folk hero Wong Fei-Hung. This is one of the best martial arts movies I’ve ever seen
24. KungFu Jungle (2014)

I think this is one of Donnie’s best works. Excellent action and fight choreography. Just watch it!
25. IP Man 1, 2, 3 & 4

Part 4 is my least favourite because it felt a bit rushed but 1 - 3 are simple fantastic. Wing Chun brought to screen in its glory! Favourite fight scenes are those with Sammo Hung and Mike Tyson’s characters.
26. No Tears For The Dead (2014)

Though this movie is mostly emotionally dramatic, the fight scenes were pretty solid. It is graphic! I did expect more of fight scenes than the drama they gave but it was still a fantastic movie.
27. The Raid 2: Redemption (2014)

Iko Uwais delivered an absolutely fantastic, well coordinated, realistic fighting sequence. What stood out for me was the Karambit Knife fight and the portrayal of Pencak Silat. Absolutely Glorious!
28. The GrandMaster (2013)

This is a masterpiece. Homage paid to the legendary Ip Man and his Wing Chun style. It is romantic, tragic, heroic and superb
29. SPL II: A TIme For Consequences (2015)

This second part, my favourite character is the antagonist played by Max Zhang. What a brilliant performance. Fight choreography in this movie is unbelievable. Not to forget Tony Jaa starred in this
30. Warrior (Wu Xia) (2011)

No way this movie won’t make the cut. Donnie again! A story of a martial arts master who left his criminal life to start a new life. His past caught up with him when his old family came calling for blood.
31. The Raid (2011)

Now, this is the movie everyone must see if you haven’t. This is one of the best hands on action films ever made. Reminds me of why I love seeing Yayan Ruhian in movies.
32. Legend of the Fist: Return of Chen Zhen (2011)

Donnie Yen brings to cinema again the story of Chen Zhen and his fight against Japanese occupation in China. His fists did wonders.

In modern times, this is one of the best martial arts movies you can ever watch. Vincent Zhao didn't fail to deliver. That old school kungfu vibe was sprinkled al through. Tragic story i tell you
