WATCH LIVE: Ontario officials to release data modelling path of COVID-19 outbreak in the province http://www.cp24.com/now
Public health officials in Ontario speaking now to release modelling data about how the pandemic could affect the province. Watch LIVE: https://www.cp24.com/now
The data being released today was developed by Public Health Ontario and university researchers, officials say.
Dr. Peter Donnelly, President and CEO of Public Health Ontario, says models and projections are being revised as the situation unfolds
Donnelly says a great deal has already been done in the province to limit the potential impact of COVID-19
Health officials caution that any model is "an abstraction of what we are dealing with"
Officials say that 100,000 people could have died within 30 days in Ontario had no measures been taken.
Donnelly says "If we do everything we can think of" the death toll in Ontario can be reduced to between 3,000 and 15,000.
