I think I have an issue with cameo...one part of me thinks it’s a great way to stay connected with fans in this strange time (brilliant if the money is donated to charity)...
...the other part of me thinks it’s very wrong to charge fans for a video message (which they undoubtedly want because they admire you so much)...
...In my eyes it’s more acceptable when you are charging a small fee, but to charge the price of a West End show ticket for a video less than 2 minutes seems exploitative to me🤔
I know from experience that when you are in a show, requests for happy birthdays etc crop up all the time & we don’t charge for them...why start now? If it’s about making fans happy, surely do it from the goodness of your heart, not for profit?
I’d love to hear others thoughts on this because I may have the wrong end of the stick x
Also as a side note (because this point was just made to me) its a whole different kettle of fish when someone takes the time to write a song(s) & perform it. That way you are paying for a thought out, effortful showcase of talent...
But if you divide the price of a show ticket between the amount of songs you are getting in the show, that should give a guide to how much you should charge.
