Early 1880 - Nationalists get key insights into government strategy and direction with inside contacts....
Mid 1880 - The Plan of Campaign captures the national imagination and drives huge support across the country. British public though are horrified by sensational news of murders in London, the government weathers criticism of their handling of the investigation....
Late 1880 - RIC brutality results in some moderates moving to militancy in tackling the national question....
Mid 1881 - As Nationalists fail to canvas successfully in early 1881, the RIC successfully round up rebels in Dublin in mid 1881. Gladstones son let's slip his fathers thoughts on the Irish Question to much surprise....

Early 1883 - The Anglo Sudan war begins, Khartoum will fall next year and General Gordon killed, perpetuating pressure on the Prime Ministers handling of the affair....
Mid 1883 - Land meetings drive up Nationalist support in Ireland putting further pressure on government....
Late 1883 - Republicans formulate a viable plot in Dublin. Splits in the Irish Parliamentary Party dogs meaningful progress...
Early 1884 - Gladstone narrowly avoids loss of confidence over the Gordon affair and government handling. Tories make ground on Liberals a year ahead of the general election.....
Mid 1884 - Gladstone sensing waning support for the Liberals and attempting to hold ground before more is lost, calls a snap election and goes to the country.....
1884 General Election - Liberals drop to 45% share of seats from 55% but remain the largest party. Parnells Irish Parliamentary Party agrees to support the government on condition of a Home Rule Bill....
Mid 1884 - Gladstone introduces his Home Rule Bill for Ireland. It passes the House of Commons but is defeated in the House of Lords. Strikes in Britain cause further issues for Gladstones new government. Disraeli announces decision to retire at the end of the year....
Late 1884 - Republicans fail to realise a plot in South Munster, plot in Dublin remains viable though....
Early 1885 - Lord Salisbury succeeds Disraeli as Conservative leader and leader of the opposition. He dies suddenly soon after assuming the leadership. Randolph Churchill is elected new Conservative leader.....
Mid 1885 - Dublin Metropolitan Police receive intelligence on a plot and it is foiled before it can be carried out....
Late 1885 - Katherine O'Sheas divorce and affair with Parnell causes a sensation. Catholic Church withdraw support for Parnell. Anti Parnellites force a leadership challenge, Parnell wins and remains leader though with diminished power....
Mid 1887 - Successful raids in Dublin leads to the DMP folding up another Republican rebel force....
Late 1887 - Intelligence helps result in a successful jail break of rebels back into the country....
Early 1888 - Nationalists successfully canvass for support in Ireland as Parnell tries to rebuild trust....
Mid 1888 - DMP fail to find Republican safe houses in Dublin. The Vatican denounces policy of boycotting landowners in Ireland, the Bishops admonish those engaged.....
