Countries and regions of countries that we think of as successful at fighting the pandemic are still -- slowly -- giving ground, even with maximal effort.

The 'pressure' of this virus, as a force, is still stronger than our best efforts -- unless you believe in Chinese miracles.
The takeaway from Japan, South Korea and Washington state is not that we should give up or that we can't be successful, but that we have to do more and better.

That in turn is why Covid Kim's grudging accommodation isn't enough. She must insist that we not lose any more ground.

Having said that, just this week we had a Whirlpool plant in Amana close for the second time, so Japan is not an aberration.
