This was Lily one year ago today, just hours after being diagnosed with T1D. One year ago we started a new journey with this girl, she's made us so proud and she's been so brave and so mature throughout this whole process! (thread)
Stephanie and I were so scared and overwhelmed, but the awesome staff and doctors at Maine Med and the pediatric diabetes center gave us everything we needed and continue to this day to support and encourage us.
So, here we are a year later, and T1D has become part of our routine, Lily is dancing, doing gymnastics, she's in drama and band, she went to summer camp, and has sleepovers with friends, she's raised 1000s of dollars to find a cure for T1D...
and she refuses to let this disease hold her down, she's an amazing kid, and will continue to do amazing things, and maybe someday there will be a cure and she will have and already has no doubt helped contribute to that through raising money and awareness...
and being an amazing example of overcoming the obstacles that life throws at her! Lily, we're so incredibly proud of you and how you overcome this thing everyday!!! 💙❤💙
Huge thanks to the @JDRF for their hardwork and dedication to finding a cure for T1D for Lily and millions of other kids and adults like her living with this disease, your efforts give us hope everyday!!!
