My passion is exploring new places around my city and around the world. Being trapped at home is tough. Join me on a virtual journey, all pics are mine (or my wife’s).
1st a little about home. The Dallas-Ft Worth Metroplex is the 4th largest metro area in the USA, 7.5M. (NY, LA, Chi, DFW).

I was born in raised in Dallas proper, Big D. 1.3M people. Diverse - 42% Latino, 25% Black, 29% non-Hispanic White, 3% Asian (Korean, other)
I live in Uptown, in the heart of the city. It’s a great neighborhood for dog lovers. I can’t wait until our neighborhood dog park / bar re-opens. It’s a great place to have a margarita and watch awkward first dates.
Dallas is full of music, art and culture. It’s not always obvious as most visitors to “Dallas” spend their time in suburban shopping malls and chain restaurants. But it’s there, it’s as diverse as the city and I miss it.
Let’s travel around Texas. Let’s go East to Caddo Lake, maybe get in a canoe and look at alligators.
Let’s go to west Texas and visit the state buffalo herd.
Let’s keep going to Far West Texas to the Davis Mountains.
Let’s stop at a crowded Buc-ees for a Dr Pepper (when we can, sigh).
Let’s visit the most beautiful public building in North America, the capital of Texas.
While we’re in Austin let’s stop for lunch
Then let’s head on to San Antonio, Texas
While we’re in San Antonio let’s head over to the West Side to check out the street art.
Then let’s go on to Houston to visit my in-laws. On second thought let’s not.
Instead let’s go across the border and go down to Monterrey, Mexico and eat cabrito (goat).
Then let’s go to Zacatecas, Mexico and join a callejoneada. It’s basically a roaming street party where we’ll follow a mariachi band and a mezcal-carrying donkey. We’ll drink too many shots of mezcal for sure.
Then we’ll start a revolution. It won’t go well so we’ll head south to Honduras.
We’ll start in Amapala off the Pacific Coast of Honduras.
Then we’ll swing through small colonial towns.
As we make our way to Tegucigalpa, the capital where we’ll hang out with my cousins.
And we’ll eat mangoes.
And we’ll eat pupusas fresh off the grill.
And we’ll eat real tamales, cooked in banana leaves.
We’ll consider trying to start another revolution. But we’ll decide not to.
Instead we’ll head to the islands and keys off Honduras’s Caribbean coast.
And then we’ll just chill in these chairs for a couple of days. Or weeks.
