The unemployment rate rose from 3.5% in February to 4.4% in March, the highest unemployment we’ve seen in nearly three years. EPI estimates that nearly 20 million jobs could be lost by July, bringing unemployment rates into the mid-teens across the country.
The Hispanic unemployment rate skyrocketed from 4.4% to 6.0%, and the black unemployment rate jumped from 5.8% to 6.7%. The white unemployment rate rose from 3.1% to 4.0%.
