Working on a complete thought about how "Look for the helpers"-style feel-good pandemic content is a tool to keep people from grappling with the criminal malfeasance of our government
The problem with "We will get through this https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🌈" title="Rainbow" aria-label="Emoji: Rainbow">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="đŸ’Ș" title="Flexed biceps" aria-label="Emoji: Flexed biceps">" is that "getting through this" in any real sense relies on a functioning federal government doing its best to help, and in fact our federal government is actively working to stop the "helpers" from helping
Every time I see someone post about how doctors and nurses are heroes, I want to ask if they know that President Trump responded to questions about his failures to protect medical workers by accusing them of lying about their needs and implying they& #39;re selling gear for a profit
So, yes, clap for the doctors and nurses (and custodial workers, and grocery-store clerks, and and and), but also "look for" the reason they& #39;re forced to work like this, and then vote against it as hard as you can
"Look for the helpers" is an explanation meant to comfort powerless children, and not an excuse for adults to avoid confronting our responsibilities.
