These are testing times for everybody across the world. Alhamdulillāh, however, we have been presented with an amazing opportunity to re-connect with our Lord and Creator. #Lockdown #Islam
There are many adʿiyāh (sing. duʿa) and adhkār (sing. dhikr) from the Qur'ān, Sunnah, and the traditions of our pious predecessors. JazākumAllāhu khayr to the @essentialislam team for sharing these gems, which we have collected together in this thread:
The first protection is an excerpt from the famous Hizb al-Bahr. A high quality image of the excerpt can be downloaded at http://essentialislam.co.uk/house-of-protection.jpg. The full litany, accompanied with an English translation, is available here: http://damas.nur.nu/6194/tasawwuf/shadhili/shadhili-litanies/hizb-al-bahr.
The second protection was placed by the Ottomans on the front of their homes during times of pandemics and contagious disease. A high quality image is available at http://essentialislam.co.uk/Masters-of-the-Mantle.jpg.
The third protection is taken from the Qasīdah Burdah, written by the great Imam al-Busiri (rahima-hullāhu taʿālā). The full Qasīdah Burdah is available on our website at http://pocketislam.wordpress.com/resources/lyrics/burda
If you would like a physical copy, the Essential Islam team have produced a beautiful copy of the Burdah - which you can purchase at http://theburdah.co.uk .
We have produced a printable PDF with the three protections mentioned above. It is advised for everybody to print this and hang it in your homes. Download it here: http://pocketislam.files.wordpress.com/2020/04/protection-against-pandemics.pdf
Other protections include (but are not limited to) hanging the following in your homes: the names of Allah, RasulAllah ﷺ, and the Khulafā ar-Rashidun; Ayat al-Kursi; and the 'Four Qul'. Keeping copies of famous books - such as Ahādīth and the Qasīdah Burdah - is also recommended
Finally, Sayyidunā Shaykh Muhammad al-Ya'qoubi holds a weekly 'Dhikr and Duʿa' session. There is a new set of adʿiyāh and adhkār every week. The Arabic text, along with an English translation, can be downloaded at http://scholarlyheritage.org . Subscribe today: http://youtube.com/ShaykhAlYaqoubi
