In case you didn't realize, the 2k per month from CERB would be a pay raise to many of the full time workers who are still at work in grocery stores right now, in a dangerous and stressful setting as some of us sit home scheming reasons why to not increase minimum wage
Many workers deemed essential, such as take out, grocery stores, janitors etc that without them would result in total chaos, are minimum wage. That means $399 a week, $100 less than the government determined to be a minimum amount of money during an emergency.
So please, before you angrily berate a drive thru customer about getting your coffee order wrong, or toss your corona filled gloves on the ground in a parking lot, think about what you are expecting others to do for you. Don't be trash. We need them. Thank you.
If they get sick, or burnt out, or scared like the rest of us and quit, who is going to do the job? Are you willing to take a pay cut to go back to work so that you can get sick and burnt out? Increase the pay, give all the benefits we can, and keep it that way.
