thread of songs that are fabulous with even more fabulous music videos bc I wanna nerd out about them (a thread):

1) sleep on the floor - the lumineers. I want a love like this thats not a love like this cause the love in this video is not even a love like this because her father dies and she marries someone else and they get divorced and she becomes a taxi driver to drown her sorrows away

2) cherry wine - hozier. I am not the biggest hozier fan and I HATE the song take me to church BUT this is amazing and also shows the best actor of our time, miss saoirse (ser-sher) ronan. also the depiction of domestic abuse in under almost 4 minutes is pretty damn harrowing

3) queen of peace // long and lost - florence and the machine. to me and anyone with ears and a semi decent diaphragm, welch is a musical genius BUT THIS. THIS IS A MASTERPIECE OF DAMN GOOD CINEMATOGRAPHY. also the hand image is my favourite image, maybe, ever.

also side note: florence probably has the best music videos regarding this whole era and also as the girl in the behind the scenes of her life video says FLORENCE IM JEALOUS OF YOUR DIAPHRAGM

4) WILD // FOOLS // TALK ME DOWN (aka the blue neighbourhood trilogy videos) - troye sivan. this an extremely well thought out modern peace about coming out as gay and is really heart wrenching stuff. also considering troye sivan is a YouTuber come artist, his stuff is kinda good

5) I know I’m not the only one - sam smith. dianna agron (who really gets to show off what a good actor she is in this) and chris messina (who I definitely fancy but only as doctor Danny castellano from deep Staten Island in the Mindy project) are just great in this

6) mind mischief - tame impala. tame impala love a remotely ~sExUaL~ video + this is by far their weirdest in regard to the disgusting sentiment + they have a whole video about lady hair on you know where. even weirder because the actor Bill Milsner is the little boy from Skellig

7) I wanna prove to you - the lemon twigs. these boys make some slow rock jams that are pretty damn fabulous. also directed by nick roney, so instantly makes it good, in my extremely unbiased opinion

8) flesh without blood // life in the vivid dream - grimes. again grimes has some pretty good music videos out there. also hate to say I love elon musks baby mamas music but I really damn do. also fun fact grimes is really smart and could of been a surgeon but dropped out

9) Love$ick - mura masa ft. A$AP Rocky. mura masa is a sick producer and A$AP Rocky is A$AP Rocky, this is hella dope and again so are most of mura masa’s videos, A$AP Rocky also has some great videos including the next one in the thread. also this video British as hell

10) praise the lord (da shine) A$AP Rocky ft. SKEPTA. again I love this because it is so god damn true it is this is what real Britain and NYC looks like. also kinda wanna see A$AP Rocky on his new tour if anyone’s up for it on July 5th in Dublin if any countries ever open again

11) HUMBLE - Kendrick Lamar. Needs I say it, mans a GOD. and I ain’t gonna be humble about it. also if you haven’t seen his live performance at the Grammy’s, you should. also the guy does present himself as Jesus in this video and the biblical messages throughout are MAD

12) adore you - harry styles. this is the first time I think he has been fully creative with any of his music videos, for instance lights up, falling and sign of the times are all pretty boring and have been done before but this. this is like a miniature film

13) back to the rap. sweatpants - childish gambino ft. problem. is this video pretty simple? yes. do I know all the words to this song? maybe. do I love it purely for when he dances at the end? of course I do but I like it because it shows just how far he has come
