Today was supposed to be @PizzaWrestling’s Birthday Bash.

A year ago today was our first show.

So here’s a thread reminiscing on that day and some of the craziness that’s happened during the past year
4/2 - the day before:

My mom sent me like 30 texts the day before double checking that we had all the essentials. Plates, a sound system, you know - stuff moms think about!

My parents never really understood my fandom but I’m lucky that they’ve always been supportive of me
4/2 - the night before:

As is tradition when Sam Jude is over from England, Tuesday’s are karaoke night.

Everyone thought it’d be good for me to have a few drinks and relax since I’d been in stress mode.

We sang “I’ll Make a Man out of You” - perfect song before you go to war
4/3 - day of

It almost didn’t feel real when I woke up. I remember walking home with bagels that morning, totally stressed and looking at everyone else around me.

To them, it was just a Wednesday. But for me, it was the biggest night of my life to that point.
I went to the venue separate from my team. I stopped to pick up @fredyehi from the airport.

Fred is the best. One of the nicest people I’ve met. We shared yarding stories which always makes for a great time!
When we got to the venue - @PizzaPartyHBIC was bringing the place to life with balloons, streamers, and putting party hats on the seats.

She really is the unsung hero of Pizza Party. She does so much behind the scenes. So much of why people love Pizza Party is thanks to her!
The team we had on hand that day was incredible

@VerbGagne - my consigliere
Ben - holding down the door
@LukeKubs - showing up w/ a camera
@xavierfaraday - helped film
@MCH24011 - ran that merch
@this_partysucks was a machine
@ZStrutts picked up @RobbieEagles_ & @danielmakabe
Want to take this moment to shoutout @xavierfaraday for getting me a slice of pizza like an hour before doors.

I don’t even think I finished that slice. I could barely eat that day. I was just walking around the building with a slice in my hand for at least an hour
Another unsung hero from the first show is @MattTheMouth

He messaged me probably the day before and asked if we need any extra hands or walkie-talkies.

He helped condense the show from what was probably gonna be 4 hours into like 3 flat.
I learned so much from him that night. He gave our team a crash course to promoting that helped make the event a success.

Even to this day, Matt still checks in and offers his insights where he can.

Gentleman. Scholar.
Oh yeah! How could I forget?

The venue double booked that night. They booked Zumba in the locker room...

Fortunately I can laugh about that now but holy shit was I ready to implode that night
I was pretty terrified before I went out through the curtain, but @BradFNRush and @fayejackson419 said something to me before and it calmed me down. Not sure what, just remember it helped!
I think what blows me away about our first show is how excited and on board our fans were from the jump.

Pizza Party has some of the best fans out there. Shout to @otaroddball and @TheDinosawyer for being supporters since day one!
I remember sitting in the ring before the show started and getting emails from people buying tickets last minute. One was someone from Japan.

That was totally surreal.
That person ended up working for NJPW. I happened to see him come in and head for the merch table.

Dude bought a shirt before he sat down. I helped him find a seat. He was such an awesome guy. So honored to have had him there.
He ended up posting pictures of @AlexZayne’s and @RobbieEagles_ match on the New Japan Instagram.

Still can’t get over that.
Alex had his first coming out party that night. He and Eagles got a standing ovation for their dope match.

We were at the @ISDub show the next night and a couple people came up to him and praised the match from the night before.

So happy for what Zayne’s accomplished since
The night before - Sam Jude “twisted his knee” on the walk back from the bar. He was so mad and he just kept saying “me knee’s done mate”

Honestly I forgot about it until his match when he jumped off the stage and people started rushing over to check on him
I didn’t even know that was gonna happen. In the moment it helped make the match

It doesn’t playback nearly as nice because you see the paramedics just standing there so it cheapened the whole thing.
I took a pee break during intermission. I asked the guy at the urinal next to me if he was having a good time.

He told me he doesn’t like wrestling, but his friends made him come.

Said he was having a blast, and that this is the kind of show he’d bring a first date to 😮🙃🤯
Something I think doesnt get enough love from that first show is @Cockstrongest vs @SupercopJUSTICE

The crowd had so much fun with that 60 second Ironman match. Definitely check that one out if you haven’t seen it!
The debut of @OswaldProject is my favorite thing from this show

If you looked around the building as he bended his way back to his feet that first time. Jaws on the floor.

I really think the magic @JimmyWayward @ZekeKubisch and Oswald created that night helped make Pizza Party
That main event between Yehi and @danielmakabe was an absolute clinic. Everyone got quiet as that masterpiece unfolded before them.

So glad we were able to run that match - and I can’t wait to run it again.
The months that followed were pretty incredible.

We were able to host a match that was part of @MikeQuackenbush’s 25 Matches for 25 years. In the Wrestle Factory!

Mike and his crew are the best. Great hosts & helping hands. Incredible venue. More promotions should run there!
Getting a spot in @collective2020 meant everything to us.

365 days ago I told @this_partysucks that my goal was to be down in Tampa on The Collective.

So thankful @Lauderdale11 took a chance on us.

Can’t wait to party with everyone when this is all over 🥳
Also need to shoutout @ZekeKubisch for being on board before there was even a day 1. And since then he’s gone above and beyond with editing.

He’s the best. So thankful to have him in an out of the ring
Also @this_partysucks and @BradFNRush have probably entertained 300K texts from me since June so thanks for putting up with me
And last but certainly not least @BradFNRush is a soldier.

He moved up here from Kentucky to help bring Pizza Party to life. Left everything behind to see this through.

You’re the heart and soul of Pizza Party and it wouldn’t be a party without you.
