As Covid-19 continues to impact all aspects of our lives, I want to emphasise what a great job the charity sector is doing, under unprecedentedly difficult circumstances. We commend @NCVO’s campaign for more govt support for the sector and NPC fully supports these efforts 1/8
And I am proud at how my @NPCthinks colleagues have responded to this crisis. Whilst working at home, they have managed to develop guidance and support for #phlianthropists, #funders and #charities to help us through the challenges ahead. Here& #39;s some of our latest work /2
Firstly, new funding from leading philanthropists is great but the sector faces a funding chasm. Our open letter in @FT calls for govt support and for more funders to #KeepGivingToCharity. We have 18 signatures but if you& #39;re a funder, add yours by emailing info@thinkNPC.org /3
Second, what charities can’t we afford to lose? Our detailed collaborative guide advises philanthropists to be proactive, transparent and timely in their giving. This is for funders looking to respond to the consequences and opportunities of Covid-19: https://www.thinknpc.org/resource-hub/coronavirus-guide/">https://www.thinknpc.org/resource-... /4
On the theme of transparency, our early release of some #STOTS2020 research shows UK charities were already facing a lack of core funding and declining digital confidence before the Covid-19 crisis. These findings must help shape the national response: https://www.thinknpc.org/resource-hub/state-of-the-sector-2020/">https://www.thinknpc.org/resource-... /5
Similarly, we will revisit the data from our ‘Where are England’s charities?’ report. There is an uneven geographical spread of charities in England. We must be aware of the acute risks this will pose to certain places during the Covid-19 crisis.
